How many children die a year due to unintentional injury?
More than 700.
There are many charities that are working hard to supply children with materials such as Child Safety Books to help promote Child Safety Education in schools and at home, this educates children into being aware of their surroundings and any possible dangers that may lurk nearby, obvious or hidden to them. This helps to promote greater independent thinking from within the child.
Many injuries that occur are avoidable, unintentional injury is the leading cause of death in children aged 1-14 years of age and is the greatest cause of children being admitted to hospital every year. By starting the children’s safety education of at a young age you can not only help your child develop you can also give them the knowledge that one day may just save their life.
CSEF.net for example believe that a real change needs to be made and to achieve it we need to be positive that:
Every Child and Young Person within UK borders needs to be educated on preventative and protective measures.
Issues surrounding child safety and the safeguard of children need exposing and addressing with all haste.
The reforms outlined in ECM (Every Child Matters) need to be the core of everything that is done.
Sufficient money needs to be raised on a yearly basis to keep up the ongoing work to save and educate children and young people in the UK.
If you know a young person or child that could benefit from a Safety Educational Programme please have a look and point them towards safety education.
